Surgical Experience

Surgery for skin tightening, or “lifts,” like a face or body lift, is still the best option to improve severely loose, sagging skin. Nonsurgical skin tightening may be a good option if you do not want to have cosmetic surgery. Nonsurgical skin tightening procedures may be done on many areas of the body and face, such as the stomach, neck, thighs, and arms. The ideal patients for this treatment:

  • Are in good general health
  • Are near or at a stable, healthy weight
  • Have light or medium loose skin on the body or face
  • Have wrinkles or lines on the body or face
  • Want to enhance the appearance and health of their skin.

To start the session, the skin to be treated will be sanitized to eliminate any oils and lotions. Local anesthesia options may be considered if you would prefer; however, many patients feel that any pain from the RF energy is temporary and manageable. As soon as you are ready, the Morpheus8 handpiece will be evenly passed over the skin several times for an efficient session. As the RF energy heats up the skin, it prompts the collagen in the skin to contract. Once this happens, the skin begins to firm up sagging areas. A session may take around 30 – 90 minutes based on the size and number of areas being treated. Once the session is complete, you will be allowed to leave and get back to your daily routine.

Following your skin tightening appointment, the affected skin can be mildly inflamed, numb, or red. This is expected, and you will clear up naturally in several days. In your consult, Dr. Brown will talk about methods to care for the treated skin at home after your session, like keeping the skin protected and moisturized from any sun and environmental damage. Many patients will not have noticeable improvements right after their session. Since the elastin and collagen stimulation and production is a slow process, you should have the total results of the procedure around several months after your session. However, your results should last a long time and enhance the general appearance and health of your skin. You will probably require several sessions to achieve the most ideal outcome. At your initial consultation, Dr. Brown can help you determine your personalized plan for treatment to meet your concerns and goals.

How much does nonsurgical skin tightening cost?

The cost of a nonsurgical skin tightening treatment will vary, depending on the amount and size of the areas being treated. During your consultation, we will talk with you about your out-of-pocket costs and create a customized treatment plan to adhere to your desired goals and budget. Additionally, we can discuss payment methods with you, including low-interest medical financing.

What is collagen?

Naturally produced by the body, collagen is a protein-based tissue that is responsible for keeping the skin firm and hydrated. As we age, the natural supply of collagen begins to decrease, which can lead to increased skin laxity. Through nonsurgical skin tightening, collagen production is stimulated, allowing for firmer and healthier skin.

Is the procedure painful?

While you may notice a slight heating sensation, you should not experience any major discomfort during a nonsurgical skin tightening treatment. However, a local anesthetic may be available if necessary, but this is typically not needed. Prior to your treatment, we will explain what you can expect during the procedure process.

What can I expect after my treatment?

You may experience some slight redness, temporary swelling, and/or numbness following your nonsurgical skin tightening treatment. Typically, this subsides within a few days. The final results from your procedure may take a few months to become noticeable as collagen production increases. In some cases, multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve an optimal outcome.

Are there any side effects?

Though they are rare, some side effects of nonsurgical skin tightening may include slight swelling, redness, numbness, and loss of volume in the area. Before your treatment, we will talk with you about what to be aware of after your procedure.
